Rob's seminar 27/11

This weeks seminar with Rob was a little different to the usual seminars.

We were given 30 minutes to complete a mini brief, which was given in the format of a seed, a mode, a make, and a show. This basically means, an idea, how, which product, and how to present the final outcome. Our seed/idea had to be based around 'thick time", we all got "in a small group" as the how, our make had to be a small book, and our show was "as a whisper".

Initially me and Alex struggled with how to interpret what "thick time" meant, at first we thought that it meant a time where a person had done something stupid/embarrassing (thick) time in their life, a busy time in someones life, or a time where time was going slowly. Then after a while we started getting more literally, thinking it could be a thick clock or watch with a book on top, then things took a turn less serious, with Dr Who, Old People, People saying sick time but with a lisp, or a book aimed at children who couldn't tell the time because they are thick.

When it came to the small book we had a few ideas, mainly that it was either thin on content and normal in size, or tiny in dimensions. There was also mentions of going digital, or down a religious route.

As a whisper was interesting, as we thought of some ideas that mean the book whispering to you.

So in the end me and Alex decided to make a tiny book that would teach kids to tell the time, and if they were struggling, they would move the hands on one of the pages and the book would whisper it, so its all very discreet, and wouldn't embarrass the kids.
